Rail 2 Rail®
The Rail 2 Rail® program allows Metrolink Monthly Pass holders to travel on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains along the Ventura County and Orange County lines at no additional charge, including Saturdays and Sundays. (Blackout dates apply - see below.)
Passengers simply board any Pacific Surfliner train and show their pass to the conductor. The Rail 2 Rail program does NOT include travel on Amtrak Coast Starlight trains.
Travel must be within the station pairs indicated on the Metrolink pass. Monthly Pass holders who travel outside those stations are required to purchase an Amtrak Pacific Surfliner ticket for the portion of the trip not within their Monthly Pass station pairs.
Metrolink’s Kids Ride Free on Weekends program may not be used on any Pacific Surfliner train, and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner policies apply on all their trains. For example, if you wish to take your bicycle on a Pacific Surfliner train, you must purchase a Pacific Surfliner ticket with a bike reservation even though bike reservations are not required for travel on Metrolink trains.
Tickets for Pacific Surfliner trains can be purchased online at Amtrak.com, from the Amtrak mobile app, at an Amtrak Quik-Trak machine, from station ticket agents, or by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL. You can add a complimentary bike reservation to your ticket. Get details here.
